Artwork Description

I am really quite proud of this one...my first real Photoshop success! And since the owner gave me permission to run the pic sans big fat watermarks, I'm enjoying the honor! Just don't make me regret it by stealing, k?

!!! Wos, after these years of searching for fantasy art with some degree of success i finally found just what i have been looking for! This is the sort of art i would make if i could!
So much anticipation on this lady's face. So classy and at peace with herself. Still, she isn't smug. Would love to sail up to her, and sail forever.

I must disagree with Mr. Young as well. As the creator of Leonie, and a writer, I was very specific in my description of Leonie. Cris captured her "essence" just marvelously. Her "violet blue" eyes are intense, exotic, amused, and dangerous. En effet, elle est tout a fait belle! And I am qualified to judge.

*low whistle and a grin* Tough room...

I definitely agree about the ribbon around her neck, especially where you see it overlap onto her collar. I'm not as picky about the shading on the lighter side, but more about the intensity of the lighting that's hitting it - for it to be just that way, she'd need a stronger sun coming at her. My only other critique is her breasts, the right one specifically, which seems large, rounded, and pushed up, while the other falls flat. Given the relaxed-looking nature of her pose, I'd say they should both appear as the left does. Wonder job overall, though!

Thanks for taking the time to really look at my art! I agree, I possibly could've darkened the shadows in various places a bit; I was a bit timid. But I had fun with the background, and it suits her character. This was a commission, so sometimes we have to make color choices we wouldn't normally. The client wanted intensely violet eyes...eye color is very very important to the private client! Most of my latest stuff here is a character from role playing or stories or such. I've learned what they like to see. So...maybe artistically it's not as satisfying as it could be, but this particular piece satisfies me a great deal! I'm happy, the client's happy...success!

I loved this painting the first time it was up here and it still looks just as great this time. I'll have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Young's comments. I don't have a problem with the background at all as this is really a character portrait and the emphasis in detail should be on the figure, and to me the collar looks fine. I guess its just a difference in how we perceive things. Anyway, great job Christine, this is one of my favorite paintings at Epi.

I agree. Gorgeous the face and hair. Stunning detail!

But the water looks a lot like sand and lacks detail. I could be wrong. Did you use reference for it? is the sun setting in front of the mountain? Looks strange. The edges are too soft on the lighter side of her tunic. You did a great job on the other side so it really stands out and looks unfinished. I'm a little confused about the collar too. The ribbon feels pasted on to me. It should be casting a much stronger shadow. Same goes for the colar. Maybe the bustline could be darkened a bit? And the eyes, perfectly rendered, but the color feels off to me. I think this could use some touching up.
