Artwork Description

Bast was an Egyptian goddess. The models for the cats were Abassynians an an Egyptian Manu. The model for the building was the temple at Esna.

Yeh, i have to agree with Patrick, her pose i love too.. Lovely image, like the surroundings, very ancient.

A very apt critique about definition - more overall care given to value/contrast would be good. What I LOVE about this painting, though, is the subtle and altogether natural pose for Bast. Slightly off balance, as if in mid-movement, yet still regal and serene. Quite impressive.

Nice painting Alisa, I agree with Dean- a little more definition around the principle figures would help.

This is nice. I can't draw animals very well, so I'm impressed! I have one critique though....I think that there should be a more defined cast of light and shadow. At the very least on Bast, if not the rest of the cats.
