Artwork Description

This is a scan of a print of a large graphite pencil drawing. The color was added during the print phase. The pencil drawing was done in 1992, the color in 1994.

When I was a little girl my mother and I used to go to the Gulf of Mexico. I would get a deep breath of air and then sink into the tides, letting them pull me back and forth... This approaches what that felt like.

LOL ... Your aversion to female anatomy never ceases to amuse me, Evil Twin.

You know, I pass by the silver version of this work what, 3, 4 times a week? But I don't think I've ever seen it until today. Outstanding. The oranges and golds and complete lack of boobs. It makes me think of all kinds of floating, not just aquatic. Kudos.

Jenni, this has always been my favorite of all the things you've done- you have my admiration and my love, Mammaw.

Thank you Mark. Smile

Smile Thank you Christine. The color was added with color pencils... I think they were crayola water color pencils. I never did any watercolor work with them, but I loved how soft and brilliant they were, and the relatively small range of available colors really let me play with my blending skills.

How was the color added? Very interesting pose for a mermaid, and the colors...not your typical blues and greens. Sweeeet...

Art at its best.
