Artwork Description

She is from a country where war was once the only way of life, and the blade was the only arbiter of justice. Now they have entered an age of peace, and swords have lost their original purpose. Still, swords continue to be in use, but only in ceremonial dances so that the people may remember their past. She stands poised in one of the traditional starting positions for one such dance.

It is very interesting.
The theme is captivating and your technique with the oil is very nice...

One thought though....
Your background is so good that it takes the eye away from the focal point of the painting. The girl. I was so misdirected that I haven’t noticed the cloth patterns on the dress (for example) until I've read the comment above.

Keep up the good work

Thank you! Someone told me before that it looked as if I didn't spend much time on my backgrounds, so I took that as a challenge and painted this!

Believe it or not, I was actually inspired by the frame! I bought a whole bunch of frames on sale, and this one really screamed egyptian to me. It kind of developed from there.

where a threat of real actual death no more exists is there any genuine feelings like fervor and passion and lust and etc either ? Im not supporting death in general but to live as a living person and know that you are really alive or then live like a dead person in your own safe secure haven ? what makes women to appreciate men in general if they are not ready to die and clearly admit it then let them at least othervice portray how much they are ready to sweat for her sake even if othervice are handicapped and hands are tied that what makes life worth living not this stillness and dead certainty say I the gueen of darkness and light

Just lovely Andrea. Were you inspired by The Mummy, or some other source? You handle oils very well.
