Artwork Description

I began to reread my favourite Space Operas and concentrated on Banks´ Culture Series. I love the imagination in Iain´s books and decided to paint some very spectacular views. Lets begin with the Orbitals. THIS is Space Opera I love! Painting inspired by Iain Banks´ book "Consider Phlebas".

Dear Epilogue Guest: The ring shaped structure was already described in the famous book "Ringworld" (publ. 1970) by Larry Niven. Iain Banks also uses this structures in his Culture books, described as Orbitals. Those and similar descriptions are one of my favourite themes for good space opera paintings.

The curving landscape in the distance implies that this is actually a ring shpaed structure. Were you inspired by the game Halo, or was this painted before it was released in 2001?

and yeah, it´s fine to find time to do some work out of fun time by time.
