Artwork Description

Who knows if this is where the unicorns live? Haven't you caught a glimpse of them in the corner of your eye the last time you took a walk down some nature path? Acrylic on masonite. 8 x 10".

I love this piece, it´s so peaceful and amazingly detailed too. It inspires me in many ways.

Thank you Pekka. I liked the forest scene in your gallery too.

Excellent piece... I just love the forest... It's so realistic looking

Thanks Patrick! I find smaller pieces a challenge. Of course I find huge pieces a challenge too! I usually work in a mid-size range.

Brilliant work! I can't believe there is so much detail in such a small piece! I love this one!

blueunicorn's picture

Thanks Katy. It's nice to have you praise my unicorns when yours are so gorgeous!!

its a lovely picture. forest unicorns live in the woods im sure. but others live in remote highlands where people never go. the woods in your picture look like the ones where i used to live, light and airy. i love the unicorn, the pose is very natural, its gorgeous.

blueunicorn's picture

Thanks Nell. There is nothing (to me) more inviting than a walk in the woods on a hot summer day. It really is cooler there.

Oooh! I love the fresh, cool feeling of the forest! almost feel like I'm there Smile

blueunicorn's picture

Thanks, I hope I'm on a roll. I want to show that magic can be just around the corner.

blueunicorn's picture

Yes, isn't that wonderful? I decided that I don't have the time to go into larger pieces, so I'm concentrating on just 8 x 10's. Mind you, all else flies out the window!

blueunicorn's picture

Hey, you've made my day, Ihsan! To accomplish a painting is such a way that people can walk right into it, is my eternal goal. Thank you!

somerset's picture

Oh!Marilyn, this is stunningly atmospheric painting, the trees alone would have done it for me, but the addition of the unicorn brings an all together most magical feel, excellent!

Guest's picture

Jeepers you've been producing lots of work lately Smile. I love this one! Very moody and secret.

Guest's picture

Hey, this is truly amazing Smile the detail and the natural, peaceful look you've achieved here is stunning and beautiful to behold! It draws you in and makes you wish you could walk right into the scene... The colours of the flora are masterfully rendered. Marilyn, your work is always inspirational!

blueunicorn's picture

You have me blushing here. Thank you for the compliment.

blueunicorn's picture

I have the trees and the mushrooms right here in my backyard too! I learn much from right out my back door.

Guest's picture

I can't even believe how much beauty can fit into such a small surface! Excellent work; I'm jealous!

Mushrooms!!!

Great picture. Love the pine tree-- can't seem to do those right, even though I've got a hill full of them right outside my window. Wink

blueunicorn's picture

Thank you Wenche.

blueunicorn's picture

Yeah, I picked at that tree for some time. But it sure is worth it in the end. I must let you know I'm not a very patient person, so I'm pleased when I take the time to do it right. Thanks for coming to comment.

Thanks for the compliment Storn. Sometimes an unexpected color in shadows works quite well.

blueunicorn's picture

Thank you Mary. That's my specialty....moments in time, captured in my mind's eye and transferred to canvas.

blueunicorn's picture

Gee Bill, I do the same thing at your gallery! I especially like the "Shire".

blueunicorn's picture

Thanks Chris! I enjoyed painting this one. Lots of lovely detail with my nose practically against the board!

blueunicorn's picture

Thanks John. I really love trees. Honestly, you'll find me out in the yard hugging and talking to my trees. Well, not really hugging, but I do put my hands on them. They do so much better when you talk to them, and yes, I'm known as an eccentric around the neighborhood!!

blueunicorn's picture

Well Sarah, I thought you were quite right and changed it. It does look much better now. Thank you.

Beautiful trees

Art at its best.
