Artwork Description

Here is my version of nightmares. This is done on canvas with two colors for a Black and White Show I'm entering. I'm enjoying the challenge of producing work with a very limited palette!

You are and will remain my favorite paintress . I adore the colours and the contrast. The horses seem to answer me when I talk to them .Big Universe will make then understandable for your ears. This piece of beauty is now making our house much more attractive
Thank you !

Well, I had it in a Black and White show, but you see, many artists will not use black, but will use Paynes'Grey instead (if acrylic ) or (indigo if watercolor). This, when mixed with white produces blue in the shading. Hence, the painting will have blue in it, but it is still technically "Black and White".

Wow, you're such a great artist! Their eyes looks a little human-like, but that just makes their spirit and emotion get throug to us. But when I first saw the picture, it looked like it was painted with blue and white, not black and white as in the description- so is it some blue in it, or is it just my eyes playing pranks on me?

Why thank you very much! I'm pleased you decided to comment and that you visit often. This was a spur of the moment decision to paint. Although I must say that the idea of painting nightmares has been with me since I saw the first one painted. Thanks for wishing me luck ....I'll let you know here if I sell it.

Marilyn, I've enjoyed your artwork on Elfwood for a long time now, but I was too shy to comment! I just HAVE to speak up now, though - your work is beautiful and inspirational to me. Such detail, painted so lovingly and thoughtfully!

As for this piece - nightmares are among my favorite creatures of fantasy, and yours are powerful yet beautiful at the same time. The haunting eyes are just perfect, and I love the whole feeling to the piece! Best of luck to you with this!

Thanks Katy! I was debating whether to change the look in their eyes. Now I guess I'll leave them like that. Glad you dropped by.

Great job Marilyn! The horse look so vibrant and full of life - I like the limited colour too, very effective.

Art at its best.
