Artwork Description

This oil painting was done on a 16"x20" stretched canvas. This creature seems a little ill tempered. Could it be that he has access to a mirror? It would seem that he is ugly in state of mind as well as appearance.

Neat! But damn... I think Ill pass next time someone asks me if I want to go swimmong in the salty waters... All I will be able to think about is this guy grabbing my ankle... AH!

Hate to tell you this, Wenche, but I think he likes shallow water too. Remember to keep your hands and feet inside the boat.

Really creepy,I now understand why I always have been afraid of simming in deep water.

Thanks, Patrick. You're right, a change of pace makes a painting more interesting for me. I can't sit and paint the same way every time.

There's nothing worse than a jealous Reef Demon, Vera.

I'm not sure that nuclear waste has anything to do with it. I just saw too many low budget movies growing up.

Kind of makes you wonder what's down there when you're swimming on the surface of the water, huh?

Thanks for commenting on my painting, Stan. It's a challenge for me to try to blend two creatures into one.

Thanks, Chris! I enjoy painting the weird and out of the ordinary.

Nicely painted, Dan! I really like the rendering of the top of the creature, especially. It's also interesting to see an underwater scene done in warmer tones, rather than blues and greens - just as a change of pace. Cool stuff.

Poor creature, Dan! It has to angry if it has seen that gorgeous merman you posted before.

I knew all the nuclear waste dumped into the bay was creating stuff like this! Awesomely scary creature Dan...think I'll hang up my surfboard and stay out of the water for awhile! Wink

Dan, great painting! Excellent job of blending the lines of the chest to the gills. It is nice to see a full painting.
