Artwork Description

Jack Vance is very popular in Germany. I read my first Jack Vance Novel in the fifties, and was fascinated from his very strange world. I was very pleased as Stefan Bauer, editor of SF & Fantasy from Bastei-Luebbe Publishing, asked me one day, if I liked to illustrate the novels of Jack Vance - it was a challenge for me to illustrate this strange worlds somewhere between Fantasy & SF. In the meantime I've made more than 80 illustrations, in which you can find many inspiration from pulp-artists of the past.

These are excellent! As happens, I am a translater into Esperanto of works by Jack Vance. I also make efforts (when I can't find somebody better) to supply them also with illustrations. The e-books, howerever, I put on-line for free. Really, it's just a hobby. So I couldn't possibly afford to hire you. But if ever you might feel inclined to bang out a few off hand doodles, I'm sure they prove superior to anything I might accomplish.

Augh! This imposingly dark, twisted gothic look has me curious about the writings of Jack Vance! That's about the highest compliments I can think of to pay an illustrator. The worst disease today, is that the reading audience overlooks hidden gems (i know it, being one that overlooks writers). Sadly, I judge books by covers. (Bad Min!).... I would buy this cover.

Art at its best.
