Artwork Description

Horse anatomy from scratch! now that's a challenge but Im glad I overtook it. Using the light on the black hair has taught me quite a few things that will be usefull to me in future works. This particular piece took me several week to get the anatomy and light right, my longest work so far. Of course it's the Father Magot meets the Black Rider out of Tolkien's first ring book.
Commment from horseriders are welcome!

Very nice job with that horse =). Love the lighting in it especially.

Excellent work. The shadows are well laid out. And yes, that horse is superb, especialy to be done from your head.

MMM yes I forgot to check the hooves... the horse is floating indeed! Ill repare that soon, I just forgot to add some grass and soil around them like I did around the feet of the dog. I also agree that the clothes of the man in black (Laughing out loud )are a bit plastic-like. I'gve been working on cloth and Ill soon post something much better than this (hopefully). Thanks for the comments, guys, it really helps to have positive feedback, I tend to doubt myself so much !

Awesome horse! I used to ride a long time ago...and, yes--that looks exactly like a horse! The one little thing I'd mention is that the coat seems a little plasticky in places--maybe some variation in the colour of the highlights might counteract that. It's a very minor thing, though--on the whole, it's looking awesome.

It's great! but.. the sky, it's too colorful, looks too contrived. i dont' know, maybe it's just me.
i love the detail in the clothing, looks real!

very nice. I especially like the farmer and his clothing. The background is very real looking and the contrast of the black against the light background is eye catching.
Only negative comment is that the horses feet dont seem to be on the same plane and it floats a bit.

The pose on the farmer is terrific! He conveys that haggard "worked in the field all day" sort of posture. Excellent horse anatomy too!

Art at its best.
