Actually I had also some problems to get it right, the bark I mean. It always ended looking too busy, or too plain.

yes I vote for the bark too...and gosh I am having some problems with some in a painting...you have inspired me. I love the muted grey scale...and the mouse skin...awesome! how it sits so well! Makes one wonder about the size of mouses in this world, though. I think I would ride an owl too. There are a lot of mouses....lol. Meeces would eat you to peices.

Hahaha, specially if you are wearing a mouse skin over you! That bark is my favourite part too, by the way Smile

Thanks Holger! I'm particularly proud of the closest tree's bark.

Thanks Rafal! I took the general look of the sketch with Greybark to the right of the owl, and the mouse skin he's wearing. I left out the Conan-like brownie appearance though Smile

This works well as a nature painting AND fantasy. The snow, owl, and trees are all very nice - the bark on the branch in fron is especially nice. -- and a random thought... I would think an owl would be a LOT harder to break in as a steed than a horse... as horses wouldn't tend to eat their riders. Smile
