THAT IS A WOW PICTURE I LOVE IT
this piece is genuine as they get. i've got every Linda artwork and none of them resembles this one. forget that comment Rachelle and keep upo the awesomely good work
I love all the work I've seen in the gallery and it kinda pissed me off to read those two ripoff comments, so I'm saying something about it.
I'm no artist or even grand art buff.
I've not seen the picture by linda what's her name and I haven't really taken a look at many other peoples galleries. I want to tell you that you know your not a ripoff artist and that's all that counts. It made me sad when I read that you might take this picture down, and I wanted to say that you shouldn't. who cares what those two dimwits think. keep making beuatiful pieces, and never take any down, or be ashamed of anything you do. Your awesome!
I've seen a lot of art on this site of beautiful women, but this is the first man I've seen that has been attractive. And this man is gorgeous!!! VERY nice work.
Actually...while doing this peice I had TRIED to have his eye half lilted... More so, I was actually trying to paint a book character that was overcome by evil... Only, the one who asked for it didn;t like it, so I changed the name and called it good.
I'm so glad you see that in him...
-smile- You made my day:D
First off... Lovely piece! It's very melancholy and he looks like an unappreciated poet type of fellow. Secondly... His eyes are probably the creepiest thing I've seen yet today.
What I mean is... At first glance they look closed, which is probably what you intended, but if you look twice something about the shadows above his eye sockets make it look like his eyes are open and are completely white outlined by this dark malevolent black. Now I'm fairly sure that wasn't the aim, but looking at it that way changes a sad looking goth into a very menacing and evil looking demon who just took over said goth's soul. ... I'm not really sure what input that has to the piece, but I was curious to see if anyone else saw the same thing, or if it's just me not getting enough sleep at night.
This, a rip of Vicdaen? Oh, come on people! I agree that they're both gorgeous pictures of slim-faced androgynous pretty-boys (I don't mean that as an insult, by the way, just a sort of generalization for reference), but that's where the likeness ends! I think you did very well on this one, Rachelle. I'm glad you didn't take it down, because I really like it.
This is beautiful, Rachelle, and it is such a shame that people are saying you 'stole the idea' or you 'stole the inspiration'. It just doesn't seem fair to me. I am an artist myself, but I have never had such accusations. My heart goes out to you, and I REALLY hope people start seeing what is really there instead of what they want to see, or what they think they see. This is unique, Rachelle, and no one should have the right to say otherwise. Keep up the AMAZING work, and know that I support you all the way.

I love the pic, it doesn't look a damn thing like Linda's. -high fives- Keep up the good work, I'm a big fan ^_^;
I just discovered your work, and have been a heavy fan of Linda's work.
Are the people saying that this looks anything like Vicdaen blind!? Number one, this is a lot darker, the Vicdaen peice is lighter and more fluffy. This is great, and so is Linda's but they are nothing alike! Open your eyes peeps!
thank you, and yes...I agree.
are these people blind who say this is stolen from Linda??
this doesnt look similar at all!! Only because he is looking down....how stupid can someone be....and besides, i think this is much better than the Picture of Linda!! Keep up the good work!!
Thank you... and I believe I may have to take this one daown. It's disheartening me.
Darling. Did you not read the reply I left for the last disputant? The mere fact alone that I submitted my peice far before she submitted hers should be proof enough.
You know, I adore Linda and her work, but lately the mere mention of her name makes me want to slap people like you. People who do not realize that as an artist we strive to find our own style, our identity, our soul. The LAST thing I would want to do is rip off someone elses peice!
It's ignorant people like you that drive me mad!!! It's hard enough to sweat and bleed over a god forsaken peice off artwork that I can call my own... Giving up would be so simple. To screw anything as disheartening and unforgiving as art!
Thank you, now I feel like sh*t.
Have a nice day.
This is a total Linda ripoff
Actually it does look a lot like Linda's picture of Vic, but there's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure there are a million other pictures that look similar to them. I wanted to offer my support and say you're a top notch artist and to keep up the good work.
Well I never post comments but I wanted to post something to this one. First the comment about you stealing Linda's work is just blatantly stupid. Your work has its own beautiful qualities (you shouldn't feel the lesser artist at all.)In my opinion, it is like comparing apples to oranges. Second, what a lovely boy, he reminds me of Brandon Boyd from the band Incubus. It's definitely one of the most memorable works I have seen here.
no, not Lestat. Lestat has shiny blond hair.
I wasn't sure whether to take your comparison as a compliment or an offence. After mulling your message over, I chose the latter.
I am figuring that you think I stole the inspiration from her simply because hers is the more beautiful and well rendered... (which I would have to agree) But you obviously didn't take into consideration that I posted "Goth Boy Cliche" a full month before she posted "Vicdaen", rendering my alleged "resemblance" theft virtually impossible.
Second, I don't think it looks a thing like hers... The fact that both the boys are looking down means nothing. Are you saying that we must compare every portrait of a lady looking straight into the artists eyes to "Mona Lisa"? Is that fair? It is bad enough for a digital artist to chose a genre, (dark, fantasy) and instantly become cast into the shadow of one who has more experience. (in this case Linda Bergkvist) Not that I do not like her work, quite the contrary I adore it... but what I do NOT adore is others claiming that I want to be like her... or even go as far as saying I stole an idea from her. Particularly when the pieces are clearly dissimilar.
Also to blatantly state that I should give credit where credit is due!? Believe me! As an artist I know that more than you could understand. I have had my work stolen from right under my nose by the less considerate. I respect the works of other artist and wouldn't dream of not giving proper mention. So please think before you meld and catagorize...
Thank you for the compliment on the clothing, and have a good day.
While I do enjoy your paintings, especially the talent you have with drawing clothing, I have to say that I notice a striking resemblance between this particular goth boy picture, and Linda Bergkvist's own "Vicdaen," (my apologies to Linda if I misspelled his name). While there's no harm in taking inspiration from other people, I believe in giving credit where credit is due.
Simply put, he's beautiful. he also looks disturbingly similar to someone I saw walking around the other day while I was at prep days. I love the idea that he could either be coming out into the light or retreating into darkness.
And what a lovely cliche he is. I particularly like the almost sculpted alabaster quality of this skin against the deeper jewel tones. Very lovely.
Rachelle, very nice sculpture-like rendering in the planes of the face. It has an exceptional antique quality.
