Artwork Description

Galadriel as a much younger woman, before her involvement with the One Ring. Not related to the movie, this is my own personal vision of her.

There is -nothing- wrong here. She most certainly is my work, and when the painting was in progress, I posted a step-by-step series of pictures on my website, from the preliminary sketch to the finished picture. You apparently did not notice that this picture is much more recent than most of the others, which were placed in this gallery years before Galadriel.

peters's picture

Hehe, I'm glad you like her.

Guest's picture

I think this is not your work, it is strange that the other you have doesn't look as perfect like this one.. there's something wrong here.

Guest's picture

Nice detail...Can I have her number.

peters's picture

What?! You mean I don't have the right to express my opinion of her suitability for that role? Your opinion is the only one that counts? I'm glad you like the picture, but you're not the universal expert on what Galadriel should look like.

Guest's picture

I love the picture but you bagged Cate Blanchett when i think she portrayed Galadriels beauty and especially her wisdom perfectly!!!!!

peters's picture

Thanks! I'm glad you like her.

Guest's picture

wow this leaves me truely breathless i mean gosh she's just... wow!!

peters's picture

Thanks! I can see the German resemblance myself, although it was not intended. Yes, sometimes there is a comment limit, sometimes not. It may be a glitch in the system.

Guest's picture

Is there a comment limit? The rest: "...pattern of the necklace, the flaxen hair, the strong jaw, even her lovely green eyes- all remind me of a German or Austrian woman."

Guest's picture

Wonderful... her eyes are perfect, ambition and excitement combined with the characteristic elven serenity. Perhaps this is a portrait of her on the ship from Valinor, hopeful and even slightly anxious about what she'll find in Middle Earth.

As for the picture as a whole, she looks kind of German. It sounds weird, but the brown portrait frame, the patter

I'm glad you like her. I also have her in my Elfwood gallery, where she drew some flak from two members who disagreed with my personal interpretation of her, and were quite abusive about it. It's nice to see that others can be more objective. Smile

Guest's picture

I have never seen her portrayed like this. It's wonderful. I love her eyes they just kinda draw you into her face. it's like looking at her soul.

peters's picture

Oddly enough, someone else at another gallery mentioned Celebrian. Maybe I should change her name. Smile

Guest's picture

That's a beautiful Elven lady. Not my vision of Galadriel (I have read too many HoMEs and UT to see her with green eyes). I see her with blueish-grey eyes and hair that is more golden blond (light of the Two Trees mixed in her hair Smile) and if we are speaking of her youth, with a different personality. She was quite a rebel before she got married... This is closer to my vision of Celebrian, her daughter, Elrond's wife.

Hehe, thanks. Smile

peters's picture

Thank you. Very much appreciated. Smile

Guest's picture

WOW!! Thats all I can say. WOW!!

Guest's picture

This is really amazing. Like others, I noticed her jaw right away. It gives her face a very unusual and wonderful look. Most people think of Elves as being more delicate looking than that, but Galadriel is strong, and you depicted that well. Wonderful job.

peters's picture

Thanks for your lovely comments. Concerning her jaw, I like a strong jaw on a woman's face, and this was definitely a choice I made. Smile

Guest's picture

After posting my comment, I read the others, noting the one about her jaw. I LIKE her jaw, in fact, I thought it was a nice STRONG jaw which added to the overall power of her face. **ahem** I like the hair, too. I viewed it as a stylized choice. And did I mention the ear? Because... also perfect. Your vision of Galadriel is wonderful. I will admit, tho, that I would love to see her in the white gown Cate B. worn in Fellowship! Wink

Guest's picture

She's gorgeous. You've done an amazing job with her entire face, and the skin tones are beautiful. Her eyes, though - they're just fabulous!

peters's picture

Thank you!

Beautiful

Now that's an interesting comment. When I read the name Lannister, I realized you were talking about a character by George RR Martin, although I've never read his books. I decided to do some research on the character, and yes, I agree with you. My "Galadriel" seems to fit the description

Guest's picture

she looks like Cersei Lannister. Anyone else think that?

peters's picture

I don't sell prints. The hassle involved is something I don't want to handle at the moment. However, I have no problem with people printing their own. I have a larger version of this picture if you need it.

Guest's picture

Any way I could get a print?

peters's picture

Hehe! Thank you. Smile

The moment after I posted my previous comment, I took a second look at her eyes and decided that they are my favorite part of the picture. The pretty flower is a close second, however. :::grins:::

Art at its best.
