Artwork Description

This one was painted in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Many people asked me how I achieved the textures on her cape/hood. It's actually just natural brushes that came with Photoshop 6.

you know you can't paint a picture without giving the main person in it a name, right? that's what my dad says anyhow... so... she got a name? lol

Guest's picture

i have had this picture for several years and had no clue who it's artist was i sooooo love this pic and i am proud to be able to use it... Thank You So Much!

Guest's picture

AAAAMMMMAAAAZZZZIIIINNNGGG!!!

Guest's picture

My name's Khamani... This is quite pretty, but yeah, the head does look quite big. *Chuckles*. But, I'd wish you didn't make the cloak hood go all the way to the right of the painting. Yeah & the shoulder's a little too small too, but GREAT WORK! I give it an 8!!! Smile Well... an 8 and a half. Smile)

After 3 images i saw i cannot stop my fingers to type YOU ARE REALY a profisional artist >

Guest's picture

What strikes me most about the picture (besides stunning mastery of the shading and detail) as the way you captured, intentionally or not, the almost-smile, which is by far one of the most puzzling expressions to draw. Just that hint of something about to happen, poised on a rather serene face, so that it's not a real smile, yet it is such a smile that you can almost see her grinning.

I love it.

I also like the emotion caught; a quiet sadness, complentative, with an almost sardonic air, as if she were laughing at the world and herself.

What did you use this picture for?

0_o WOW!

I must say, your art is perfect. Takes the breath away. I tried your site, and it was down... i'll try some more in the future. looking forward to seeing it.

Guest's picture

wow it's simply magical

Guest's picture

god.. i just don't know what to say
and i have no idea which is best "the melancholic princess" or this one

Guest's picture

You're great. I'm glad that I have the chance to write you something. I edited your "melancholy prices" so it fits on my 1024x768 desktop. (I just clone stamped the green around her to screen out the missing parts) I just love your work.

toeknuckles's picture

wow. brilliantly done, imo. nice! Cool

Guest's picture

Wow. And I can't even draw stick people!!! XD

I really love this picture. It's so real! DRAW MORE, MORE!

Nice hood texture by the way.

Your art is so...life like, i feel like she is about to open her eyes and stare at you with haunting steel eyes, one blue, the other green. Haunting, just hauntingly beautiful.

Guest's picture

The guest that said there was something wrong with the size of her head was right about there being a proportional problem. I'd say it's her shoulder. It should come about half as far left as the hood goes across the page, as it is she could be missing an arm. I checked your site and I'd say that her left shoulder is almost fine, the folds in the cloth could be a little lower and I'd put a little more division between her left shoulder and the hood so that it slopes a little less.

Sorry about the seemingly endless criticism but I think your work is beautiful and it seemed you wanted the input.

I am a big fan of your artwork, it is so beautiful and yet mysterious at the same time. I enjoyed the one called "Snow" it was beautiful.

You just want to reach out and touch the hood..it looks like it would feel so soft. Her skin..well, you just want to touch that smooth cheek and move her hair out of her eyes. She's so real it seems you could almost reach out and do that. She's beautiful!

Guest's picture

I love long hair by the way! The self-
picture was impressive! The women are incredable, each one is so unique but so beautiful at the same time.I look foward to seeing more, soon I hope!

Guest's picture

This picture...is truly amazing!! I cannot believe how beautiful it is..and the artist, your great! I again, really love this picture..and I think it's great. Good job...^_^

lunatique's picture

That's weird, since I find 3/4 the easiest for me. Laughing out loud

Thanks for the kind words. Smile

lunatique's picture

Wow. I never noticed it. Take a look at the uncropped version on my website and let me know if her head still looks too big.

lunatique's picture

Errr.. I mean, Linda. Tongue

Thanks! Did you ever see the uncropped version of it? Everyone preferred the cropped version, so that's how I'm presenting it from now on.

I'm actually quite unhappy with this piece, since I was originally shooting for a Sargent-esque loose brushwork. I ended up doing the smooth thing again(which I'm trying to get out of, but it's so hard!). I'm glad you like it though. Smile

enayla's picture

I still really love this one, Lunatique (uncomfortable using your actual name, sorry... Robert, right? =] )I think my favourite part is the soft light on her cheek and her lashes. Don't know exactly why - I just really like how that came out.

Guest's picture

um... I'm not an artist of any degree... but then again... there are somethings that you don't have to be professional about to know where something is way beyond good-- ^^ WOW

maura's picture

Wow, that's skill.

Guest's picture

This one is truly amazing and hauntingly beautiful!

Guest's picture

Wow. The cloak and the strands of hair frame the face beautifully. Her facial structure seems symmetrically perfect, which is all the more impressive when you realize this is 3/4 angle perspective (one of the most difficult angles in my opinion). Lastly, the lighting and skin tones are very impressively done.
Outstanding.

Guest's picture

This is... this is so...argh, I can't find any words for this piece O_o She is sooo unbelievable beautyful, that's all I can say... *stares at the image, saves at his HD and stares again for a long time at it* O_O You captured my full audience with this one

Art at its best.
