Artwork Description

My deepest thoughts seem to come to me of recent
while I stand behind the TV Station I work for, smoking
my de-filtered ciggarettes.

I hate capitalisme. I hate greed. I hate dishonesty.
I hate the fine print within the homeland security act
benefiting pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly.

I think our greed any money lust is one of the reasons why
we're targets of such global angst.

"in the west, we think we're the best, and we've shown the
world money's all we care about." -Live.

AMERICA WAS AND IS AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE A GREEDY, LUSTFUL COUNTRY. NO, NOT EVERYONE FITS INTO THAT DESCRIPTION, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, MOST DO FIT THE DESCRIPTION OF SPOILED. HOW THEY GOT THERE IS UNIMPORTANT. TRYING TO CHANGE IS IMPORTANT. ASK A EUROPEAN AND THEY'LL TELL YOU HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT "AMERICANS". I PERSONALLY LIVE IN AMERICA BUT DO NOT DECLARE MYSELF AS AMERICAN. I WANT NOTHING OF THE POLITICS, THE ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIORS, THE MAKE-BELIEVE WORLD AMERICANS HAVE CREATED FOR THEMSELVES (OH NO, WE DON'T HAVE HOMELESS HERE, OR PROSTITUTES OR DRUGS OR CRIME OR ANY OF THOSE AWFUL AWFUL THINGS). THIS COUNTRY HAS ISSUES LIKE ALL OTHERS. I ALSO HATE THE BELIEF THAT AMERICANS ARE BETTER THAN THE REST OF THE GOD-FORSAKEN WORLD. HA! GET A GRIP. GOD HAS ABANDONED YOU JUST LIKE HE HAS ABANDONED ALL THE REST. AMERICA IS NO MORE OR LESS A GOD-BLESSED COUNTRY THAN ANY OTHER. DECLARING YOURSELVES AS WORTHY OF GOD'S TIME DOES NOT MAKE IT SO.

MY POINT IS THIS, AFTER ALL THE RANTING AND RAVING, THE ARTIST MADE AN HONEST PROCLAMATION. DENYING THAT HE IS REALISTIC DOES NOT MAKE IT ANY LESS TRUE.

"AMERICANS" NEED TO WISEN UP, BECOME MORE REALISTIC AND FACE THE REAL WORLD.

i value your opinion, and the picture itself is very thought provoking. besides - every grain is gone against and you can't hold it against the rebel that they think a different way - right? BTW - i love live and i love that song - good choice of words to get your point across! Rock on!

I think the image is effective for what it is, and well done. I don't agree that "We, in the west"...meaning America I am guessing, is the only target if we are talking about capitalism. I also do not agree that capitalism in general is a bad thing, but there will always be those who take advantage of the system. As you implied...it is the corporations who represent what is worst in this country...not private enterprise. It is in those instances where a corporation abuses it's priveledges provided under our constitution, that steps be made to prevent further abuses. Companies that oppress and mistreat citizens of other, poorer countries in order to make a profit from their labor should be prevented from doing so once a light has been shone on it's misdeeds. The squandering of stockholders savings by an unethical elite must be dealt with harshly so that such behavior is not repeated. Bankruptcy by corporations in order to avoid debt should also be prevented, but rest assured the United States has no monopoly on greed. Look to each and every government within the so-called United Nations and see for yourself. Be sure to research and accumulate information from many sources, not just the ones who agree with you, and maybe someday, someone may actually do something more than talk about how much they dislike an aspect of their personal lives, I know I have yet to do anything monumental with regards to changing mine...of course I do get to paint my ideas. Your painting is a step in the right direction, and each of us in this country has the right to question and express our opinions...which is a benefit we as Americans should be thankful for, and acknowledge. Keep on painting and maybe you'll get your point across where it will do some good. As for the Socialist Guest...I hope you never get into public office.

The picture is a clever portrayal, though you really muscent label *all* Americans or, really, all capitalistic systems as greedy. I'd much rather live in a system controlled by one's success and subsequent attainment of wealth than be controlled as a sheep by some massive Government or have limits placed on what I can and cannot do . . . mostly because I hate the thought of being controlled. Of course business needs *some* limits, though. I don't believe that true monopolies should be legal as it always leads to corruption; but understand that with "greed" comes a drive to further oneself, and if there is no incentive for workers besides the collective goodwill, an economy cannot survive. Anything else is oing against human nature.

I must say that I agree with Jason that Capitalism is the most moral system, but there are individuals, in America and elsewhere, that do fit the desrciption you've presented. Nice work.

Your words are completely true though some people would not admit it. Greed is the source of all evil, power corrupts. Its a human trait we all have it and if some one says they dont then they're just oblivious but that's good people are happier that way.

Interesting reactions, but not completely unexpected. I just hope no one stooped to reporting this image, which I wouldn't put past anyone simply because they disagreed. Personally, I agree, but even if I didn't, I'd still admire the guts to express unpopular opinion in these times when "patrotism" is the order of the day. As a starving artist myself, I sometimes would be glad to see capitalism end. Very relatable in addition to being well done. Keep your chin up. Smile

Oh! Please do not label America as greedy, as it is quite uncommon and untrue!

I disagree strongly with Jason. Unfettered Capitalism is more brutal than the worst of despots, for even cannon fodder is more valued than the concept of base commodities. I think the world should socialize to save itself.

Through out history Artists have been influenced by politics, which is fine! I sense that you are not, which is more than fine! I myself would like to outlaw apathy and pesimism, I hate war, and I hate intolerance, I like your art and I like the spur behind it, well done Rafal!

hm, both the lyrics and the pic offend me. I happen to be looking forward to obtaining my business degree and I happen to feel that capitalism is, after long study and review, the most moral system in the world. to assume that all capitalists are greedy pigs out to undermine the world is a broad brush that has no grounding in either fact or respectability. I am highly disappointed that a talented artist would make such a shallow pic.

Art at its best.
