Fantastic painting, Walt, so understated with a beautiful ambience!

Yes! Thank you, for your vistit, Alton. Isn't the onset of a new journey the most exciting part? A time when anything is possible and you haven't become completely fed up with sleeping on the dirt and running from trolls.

Very powerful. A young man setting off on an adventure. This is one amazing story piece. By the way... What is the Wayfarer?

Although I am not an artist, I have always loved fantasy art. I just wanted to say that this painting is one of my absolute favorites. I love the color and the atmoshpere that is created by it. Great work.

Hi, Leo! Thanks very much! I'm off to see some more of your great stuff!

This painting flows very nicely and has a cinematic quality to it. I can just hear the wind blowing and the clickity-clack of hooves beating against the rocky ground. A masterpiece!

Thanks, Katy! The horses are out again! Isn't it great! And no worries about the multiple posts. My big fingers are always clunking out a multi-comment fiasco, lol.

Hi, Kay! Thank you very much! I'm off to see what pirate babes are on a journey of their own in your gallery!

Once again you have color, form, and varied edges all working in tandem to increase the drama of the picture. Very, very nice painting.

Oh Walt this is gorgeous. I thought the Wayfarer the second I saw it before I read posts. Great colors and and feel to this. One could get lost in your sandy quest.

Beg for an extention Walt! I can almost feel the shift of the horses weight as they pick their way downhill. Beautiful image. Wink

what a beautiful and powerful image. takes me back to my days as a child... er well, a younger child at any rate.

Thank you, Mark! I really appreciate your comments! It is a great pleasure to have you visit!

Great composition here Walt and absolutly gorgeous colours. This would make a perfect Wayfarer cover.

Hey, thanks, Socar! Very nice to hear from you! Yes it is partly jpeg evil and partly the way the yellow sun made the misty dust look in the high desert. It was very ominous to see the riders ahead of you fall into a thick blanket, disappear, and call out to you. Fun! I will mail Chad and ask him. Thank you.

socar's picture

You missed the Wayfarer deadline? Awwww--faugh! You should mail Chad and ask if you can submit it anyway--this piece is too nice NOT to have a shot. Seriously, I love the mood. The only thing I MIGHT complain about is that on the left side of the picture, the air seems a bit too opaque...as though they're riding straight into a wall of sand, rather than mist. That could well be a result of .jpg compression, though--it does heinous things to colours sometimes. Overall, I love this--you just keep astounding me.

very moody. good work. Smile

Art at its best.
