A celtic shield, painted in gouache.
Now that's a celtic shield!
I had to illustrate a bunch of celtic-looking items of late - and this shield rocks!
Very nice shiny metallic effect, convincingly pulled off with an intricate design
(the image needs a few white pixels cropping off at the bottom edge from the blank canvass)
yar, Goauche rawks!
I don't know why, but this pic so EROTIC:))))) perhaps for the shape of the shield:)
Thanks for your kind comments I've always liked gouache as a medium but many artists I've spoke to don't care for it much. The solid looking edges were painted using an undercoat of thick, warm grey and then lots of dry brushing on top. For the centre piece, I used more water-colour like techniques.
When I eventually pick up the paint brush again (it's been several years, too much programming and day-jobs ),
I think I'll give oils a stab.
A very beutaful
Gouache doesn't do that for me!
What an impressively tactile rendering of a shield - I can feel how heavy it must be. . .
Awesome metallic effects here, great design. Impressive.
