Artwork Description

In the stone house loft in a soft down bed,
Sleepy eyes slowly open.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.
The little elf patiently waits.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.

Out of the bed to the frosted pane,
creaky panes slowly open.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.
The little elf patiently waits.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.

New fallen snow en the night,
Stiffened branches slowly moan.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.
The little elf patiently waits.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.

Quickly he dresses, to the door he runs,
frozen hinges slowly whine.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.
The little elf patiently waits.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.

His heavy cloak contrasts a cloak of snow,
searching steps slowly crunch.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.
The little elf patiently waits.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.

The journey ends at the far field's fence,
the tiny drummer joyfully beats.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.
The little elf patiently waits.
Tappity Tap the wee drum calls.

As he ponders the drummer on the fence,
the little elf laughs heartily with glee.
Tappity Tap the wee drum sounds.
The little elf laughingly yells.
Tappity Tap the wee drum sounds.

Take him! Take him! the little elf cries,
The little drummer's my gift to thee.
Tappity Tap the wee drum plays,
The little elf flees.
Tappity Tap! Tappity Tap!, a gentle smile breaks.

one of the most beautyfull achieved ambient colours I've seen in watercolour and the theme is appealing.

Lovely work James...

That is just unbelievable. Great narrative at play here, but your technique is quite remarkable. I love the shades of blues and lavendars for the snow!. Great work

Hey, Mr. B, glad to see some new work, and this one is a doozy! In fact, I would call this the work of a master of his craft...great isolation on the little drummer figure and very skillful use of green/pink to draw your eye to the boy as well.

Truely magical work James!!

Absolutely wonderful, James! You've exactly captured how a dark night can be bright during a snowfall, and how individual flakes catch the light and glimmer like jewels. Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Art at its best.
