Artwork Description

This painting depicts an old myth, known as 'The Wild Hunt', but in its original version, when it still was believed to be leaded by a female goddess figure, Berta. In the legend, she was supposed to run and fly over hills and valleys with a happy follow of animals and 'strange fellows'. People were scared of the supernatural nature of this event and used to stay home behind closed doors the night the Wild Hunt took place, in fact they were afraid to be drawn into this crazy circus and never come back.

Beutiful painting. I didn´t know this legend but it is very interesting. I think I would like to join Berta in the wild hunt.

Very evocative work...the painting fits the story well. I can see why folk may be a little frightened!...that's not something you see every day! Wink

Art at its best.
