Artwork Description

Several fantasy characters of different race and calling stand fast and together against a rushing horde of hobgoblins. The three in the back are humans of different lineage, with a dwarf, a gnome, and a dark-skinned (read: not a drow) wild elf in the foreground. For Kenzer & Co.

While I love your style and this image I just want to shout "They're behind you!" at the characters in it. I think something more could have been to express that they are surrounded. I take it they are on a raised mound from how the elf is aiming. Perhaps the charcters at the back either looking over their shoulder, so they are aware of the army behind them. Or other threats in the foreground at the side or lower down infront. As it is, it just seems they are ignorant of the threat behind them and the viewer is unable to see any threat infront.

Good one! Like the dwarf and the Elf especially!

Thanks a bunch for such a great compliment, Maggie! The swarming creatures in the b/g are actually hobgoblins, but more than a little of FOTR snuck into this pic, making them a bit more like the feral Uruk-hai.

This is increadable! I lvoe your work and somehow it reminds me of a more souped up and vbetter version of a lotr picture, jsut because the things int he back on the left look like uruk-hai

Thanks, Kay! I do work in color, and should have some projects I'm working on epilogue-bound shortly (with luck). I'd love to see what you'd think of them.

Great pencil work....and wow the characters are wonderful and so well rendered. Do you ever work in color? Color would make this incredible. Great job.

Thanks, Michelle. I tried to give each character as much detail as I could, without the picture looking too flat.

What an incredible amount of detail. I love how crisp and clean everything is. That's very difficult to do with pencils. Super drawing!

Art at its best.
