Artwork Description

'A mile, maybe, from Parth Galen in a little glade not far from the lake he found Boromir. He was sitting with his back to a great tree, as if he was resting. But Aragorn saw that he was pierced with many black-feathered arrows; his sword was still in his hand, but it was broken near the hilts; his horn cloven in two was at his side.'

JRR Tolkien: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Book III, Chapter 1: The Departure of Boromir

that is a great painting!!! I think im going to cry

pxp's picture

Oh well... thanks anyway.

pxp's picture

Well, I suppose you're right. On the original they don't look so complacent.

Guest's picture

Well, mostly it is good, but i myself nearly cried when Boromir died, but they look...bored like I do for a good percentage of my life.

Guest's picture

It's very pretty, but they look so complacent. It's as though it doesn't matter much to either of them that he's riddled with arrows.

Thanks a lot. Detailed criticism would be very much appreciated, if you'd ever take the time to email me it perhaps? I value your opinions and advice.

Thanks. Yeah, I stuggle a little on expressions, which I'm working on. I tried to get that 'unspoken sorrow' feeling across, but guess didn't pull it off particularly well...;P

Very good. Contrast and atmosphere is a good and rare combinations. Smile I could give you a VERY detailed criticism on this one, but I'll stick to saying that (again) the face background contrast should be a little greater, to make the faces stand out more - as they are indees the most important part of the picture.

This is beautifully done! If I may crit on it a little, I'd say they look kinda bored? Smile A little more interaction or exaggerated emotions could have enhanced the experience Smile
