With the drawing of the Centaur-ess, it's like a story, male and female. Good work Tom! Beso, Claudia.

Thanks Rochelle, very flatterd that you are inspired by this, and would love to see your version....

I love this! This is absolutely awesome, Tom. Probably the best centaur I've ever seen. Now I'm inspired to try one aswell. Do you mind, if if I ever get around to it, I do a centaur inspired by yours? I will tell everyone that it is so.

Oh yes, and lovely work highlighting the musculature.

Wow. I'm impressed with the human anatomy too, but even more impressed with the horse part because I rarely see artists that draw believable equines. Incidentally it also looks a bit like a Friesian which is one of my favorite types of horses... The background here has a little more depth than your color version I think, though I can't put my finger on why. Maybe the color version had less contrast... anyway, I love both versions! Very nice and Cheers to you.

Thanks Lauren, this a sketch study for the colored version, also did this as an anatomy eexercise...

Nice musculature here. Love the velvety feel of the horse coat. I love the background too, although the castle is a bit flat for my taste...but perfectly appropriate for the distance. Smile

Thank you Jenny, pencils are my favorite medium...

I like this one better than the coloured version--I also know that problem of people saying my pencils are better than my colours Wink Wonderful job on mood and composition. The tail is a nice touch!

Thanks Lauren, im currently working on colorizing this in photoshop , and hope to post the colored version soon...your comments are very inspiring...

Thanks Ishan, I'm always trying to improve on realism, I extented the trunk on the male character to blend in with the horse body better , was trying to get a believeable non human merge, the reason there seems to be more focus on the male character is that was where I started, I kind of rushed the rest of the pic, I'm forever working on patients to... thanks for the great feedback much appreciated...

I'm very appreciative of pencil work and this is nicely done - there's a definite phot-realistic feel to this, very precisely executed in pencil. You seem to have focused most on the male physique (which has a strange abdominal configuration). Very well done, great detail work!

portalrun's picture

Im glad you notice the contrast , been trying to improve in that area(character to backround)..thanks!

Sometimes I put too much stalk into my main characters! you don't seem to have that problem, a lovely bold figure contrasted well with that castle water effect! nice one Tom.

Thaaaaaaaaaannnnnkkksss....

Thanks Mayavan, your discription is very much how I meant this to be seen...

Thank you Chris, glad you like it...

I agree - very good anatomy. There's a really solid, weighty feel to him, and those arrows are particularly wicked looking. The background's nicely handled as well, especially that misty region off to the left - lovely piece of work!
