*is tempted to kiss him* Can I just say wow.. I can't even dream of doing that.. I can't draw people worth my life..and the detail!! It's inhuman how much detail can go into something like that, and yes I know you used photoshop, but still...It's amazing...

Wow!! You must be a modern day master, not even the pre-raphalites had this much skill. Who would even think to include eyelash shadows. When can we expect to see your oil/acrylic/watercolor stuff?

Blue because skin can have one of two colours for undertones. Blue and olive. For northern european type skin, as well as darker african tones you'd use blue, but the more middle ranged ones tend to have olive.

chutap's picture

i can't really see any blue...but why blue?

chutap's picture

most artists will use an airbrush tool for this, but you are very brave. and by doing this it makes your picture very much more interesting...hehe
and his face..is very familiar. very like some chinese or korean kung fu guy...Bruce Lee?

periadam's picture

If he were real (...oh, and how I wish he could be) and actually had one, I think I'd be pretty possesive of his number. Smile

I think what makes this one so realistic is the underpainting. I painted the face in blue (like in monochrome) before I added the skin's midtone on a layer underneath that. Then I darkened the skin colour for shadows and put that on top of the blue and did the same with the highlights. You can still see the blue peeking out in some places. It adds a lot of realism. I don't know how clear that was... so I might make a tutorial some time. Thanks for the suggestion Smile

hmm, as a further comment i think you should do a tutorial on doing skin, the skin tones are just fabulous.

I think the scars on his cheek, chin, and nose only serve to make him more interesting...not to mention good-looking Smile Beautiful pic, the eyes are perfect.

He can model for me any time!

... Oh, wait, come back to reality...

Beautiful painting. Love all the detail in the eyelashes and the looser, painterly strokes as you work out towards the edges. Very nice.

----About that phone number...!?!!

^_^

I used Photoshop 6.0. I usually try to overcome that regular "photoshopped" look, but I love that program. I use it for all my digital images.

Guest's picture

I love his eye-lids, perfect. Looks very impressive.. may I have his numebr too? *g*

k-t-roo's picture

very nice pic, so much realism. looks more like traditional than digital, may i ask which program you used? i love the eyes, i can never get the eyes right when they are closed(or open, lol) he looks a bit like someone from my story, though not quite. gorgeous pic, id love to know how you did it.

Guest's picture

Beautiful...umm... the scar on his cheek looks rather odd, but never less... may I have his phone–number?

Impressive start ! I love the classical subject of the "dark romantic guy with problems" eh Smile very Louise Cooperish in the feeling... nice rough treatment too. That's a rough time for sure Smile

Art at its best.
