Artwork Description

This image is a fusion of pencil, ink, and digital colouring techniques. It is heavily influenced by the turn-of-the-century Danish illustrator Kay Neilsen, whose stylized, graphic work is a great inspiration to me.

Wow! This has got to be my favourite. Wonderful stylised pic, beautiful colours, and birches--my favourite trees! I love it!

It is taking me forever to get to each gallery! This is so awesome - very Kay Neilsen (whom I adore) I am impressed with the line work of this piece as well! Brilliant!

They're hand drawn indeed -- ink for the bold lines, graphite left to detail the body. I'm actually percolating another Neilsen style piece, in which I'm tempted to add some more of the third dimension... given the static style, it's a brain-teaser. Thanks for inspiring me to keep working at it!

Where those lines hand drawn? They're just delicious, I want to see more work like this! I know, I'm greedy.

I looked for Jan, and you're right, his stuff is wonderful. Mucha, Klimt, Toorop, Neilsen, Rackham... my cup runneth over. I keep wanting to go in and edit my influences list every time I remember a name or see something I like.

Thanks so much, Christine. I'm thrilled to be a part of it!

Again wonderful work, this reminds me of a dutch artist (graphic) called Jan Toorop you really should look up some of his work because he's got some great work (one is called the 3 brides, at least that's what i think) well you have a wonderful style.

Welcome, Dark Sidhe! Love your linework, and I agree about the reasons for leaving/addressing comments here at Epilogue (your first forum post, I believe)...we show our art to get reactions, good, bad or otherwise, and to grow as artists. Again, welcome to the community!
