Artwork Description

THE BLEEDING ROSE © BEAR
.
The red of the rose is my heart
To give of my self the most loving part
The green of the stem is my eyes
The window to my soul that never lies
Each crimson petal a tear shaped pledge
A loving commitment dare I more than allege
The thorns be the measure of my dedication
For I will endure the pain to feel the exhilaration
Oh to feel the touch of another's loving heart
All to over come the distrust that keeps us apart
Now I bare myself to you, my emotions I expose
Will it be love you offer or the lust of the bleeding rose

Thank you, Laura, I think the pale lilac coloured paper I use helps with the skin tones a lot

brighnasa's picture

Definitely a favorite. I really like the desaturated palette. The colors in her skin are so delicate.

somerset's picture

Thank you Marjolein, this one was done on light violet coloured catridge paper!

uh - i was very bussy the last time, it seems i missed some of your fabulous work, shame on me Wink -- but at least i am here Smile -- now james, what shall i say what i haven´t already said, your work with colored pencil is not to top - i just love her expression - a very touching work.....

somerset's picture

Hi Kay, I've only ever once worked with pastels many years ago, and I didn't take to them at all! I'm having a go at acrylic paints though! lol! frustrating but interesting..I'm begining to realise the work that has to be put in by such marvellous painters like yourself, thanks for the nice words!

Guest's picture

You are amazing with the color pencil I thought this was pastel. Then I remembered that you are a genious with the colored pencil.

somerset's picture

Thank you, Puppy Girl! I'm so glad you liked it, cause I was really pleased with the rose idea myself

puppygirl's picture

This is so realistic it could almost pass for a photo! Rock on! The bleeding rose effect is gorgeous.

somerset's picture

It's great to get a compliment from a marvellous pencil warrior such as you, Share, thank you!

lynx's picture

Awesome pencil work on the face- she is so expressive. And I like the way the blood is running down her arm.

somerset's picture

Yeah, I think you've got something there, Jeff! you kinda have to persevere with the pencils, the frustration can be murder! thanks!

i gave up on colored pencil early on. impressive.

Art at its best.
