Artwork Description

The red of the rose is my heart
To give of my self the most loving part
The green of the stem is my eyes
The window to my soul that never lies
Each crimson petal a tear shaped pledge
A loving commitment dare I more than allege
The thorns be the measure of my dedication
For I will endure the pain to feel the exhilaration
Oh to feel the touch of another's loving heart
All to over come the distrust that keeps us apart
Now I bare myself to you, my emotions I expose
Will it be love you offer or the lust of the bleeding rose

Thank you, Nell! Yeah, I do like to push it a bit with the pencils! and see how far I can go! I'm trying out acrylic paints at the moment, that should! LOL!

Thank you, Jessica! yeah, I will have to address that slight slant at some point, hope it doesn't detract from the effect too much, it may take some time to get round to fixing it though, cause I'm already of on another venture! buzy, buzy! LOL!

Jeez, James! What magic you weild with the humble coloured pencil!!! This takes my breath away! What an unusal, dark piece this is. I adore her skin tones and her intricate outfit. And of course, the dark blood oozing down her arm really compliments this piece and to me, adds a whole other, deeper dimension to this. Outstanding work!

Well as usual this is great, James! But I especially like the creepy feeling this has. it seems there is just a tiny bit of distortion in her otherwise flawless expression, and the way everything is angled, it just doesn't let the eye rest. Lovely and disturbing work!

Still, Marley, my friend, it's fun to go against type now and again, maybe I will try and alternate the moods, y'know, laughter and tears, monsters and angels! Actually, I'm venturing into a change in medium, Acrylics would you believe!...Scary! LOL!

eheh well i meant it was just a bit of variety in the gallery..certainly wouldn't want a whole string of dark ones.just the odd one every now and again Smile

Thank you, Piotr! the freckles where a shot in the dark, but I think (hope) they work quite well here!

somerset's picture

Lovely skin tones James, and coloured so well too. The poem really sets the mood.

Art at its best.
