The moon maiden was modelled by epilogue Artist Jessica Palmer
Thank you, Wenche!
Thank you, Uwe! you have made my day!
i can't stop looking at it - james this is most beautiful! but to be true, i wouldn' expect less from the master of colored pencil - keep them coming james, keep them coming!!!
Thank you very much, Varian! coming from a character wizard like yourself, this is indeed a compliment!
I must've been sleeping the day this was released. I surely would've remembered it and commented upon it. You've made your model so mysterious and mystical. As others have mentioned, the browns in this are really awesome. And I like how you placed her into a recognizeable (and appropriate) location. And those eyes, wow, great eyes. Okay, now make some more!
I'm glad you like the darkness in this one , Donna! what I did was I mixed a little water in with the sepia and black watercolour pencil sky which not only gave me a darker sky but also got rid of the grainy effect of the dry pencil work! thank you for your lovely coment!
I really like the darker color scheme of this! I like the idea,as you said of the natural imagery in a fantasy setting..Love the reflecting light of the moon in her hands too.Nice eyes as usual..Do you ever do anything yucky??LOL-Later~Donna
Thank you so much Jos...hrmm Jessica! heh I have not forgotten!
I like this--it has a really mysterious feel to it. The clasp on her cloak is very realistic; it's those little extra details that really add to your pictures
Hi Rita, it's always such a pleasure to hear from you!
James, you really have a muse which kisses you all the time WONDERFUL painted. Love the moon and how you painted the skin tones!
Thank you, Nicole! yes I am trying to achieve an almost natural imagery in my fantasy stuff, sort of an "oh I just noticed she is holding the moon" look! heh does that make sense? glad you like this one it's a fave of mine too!
I've just been catching up on all your latest stuff and I think the new sense of subtlty about your work is so evocative. Lovely work James
Thank you, Tom! it is such a pleasure to hear from you, my man!
Very fine pencils James, love the colors you chose, excellent details with her face and hair...congrats pal...
Yesh she shure gives mish moneypenny a run for her cash! heh thank you, Marley
You aint no slouch in the character department yourself my friend! thank you, Scott!
Whoa shexy . Your one of few people i know that make brown look natural. Personally i tend not to touch that colour. But it works really nicely in this piece for sure. Excellent work james .
Excellent pencil work as always James. You really capture people's faces very nicely. Great job.
You are most welcome, Jessica! to be honest it was no great hardship with such a lovely subject!
Wow James, I love it! You've even made me look mysterious and serenely dramatic. There is so much more atmosphere here than in the original reference photo. I guess that's why you're so darn good. Thanks much for letting me peek in as it progressed!
heh heh sure, Bill! as long as I get to be Sancho Pansa in the background!
Whoa James another excellent portrait to your credit! Can I convince you to draw me as Don Quixote? I would find the parody most amusing
