Artwork Description

An image that has always haunted me from "The Lord of the Rings." I wanted to make a contrast between the utter evil of the Wraith, and the innocence and "untaintedness" of the shire.
One of the larger watercolours I've worked on. It was too big to scan, so here is a photo of it. This took a rather long time to finish.
Inspired by John Howe's work.

Watercolour and gouache.

Thanks Meredith! Heh, I've been too lazy to measure it, but it's approximately A2 size...I think, Haha.

Before I read your description of this work, I was thinking. 'This is different for a piece focusing on a Ringwraiths - the surroundings look so light and normal.' I feel you've succeeded in your goal. The Wraiths were, IMHO, the most memorable and terrifying elements of FOTR - the screeching sound they made haunting. On a lighter note, I also love your tree and the grass! Smile
