Artwork Description

Last weekend I went to an antiques fair and I bought some really old postcards of pretty young ladies. Some of them were from the early 1900s. They were all written on, too! Talk about some interesting history. I felt kind of guilty prying into someone's life, even though it was from 100 years ago!

Anyway, I decided to have a muck around and paint one of the ladies- Miss Denise Orme, dated 1933 (even though the letter on the back was dated 1910, go figure). I've turned her into a faerie Debutante- Miss Cotton Candy.

Watercolour and acrylic, 7 x 10 inches.

SUPERB! Nell, I love looking at old photos too, would you believe I had a crush on Jane Morris (the model for many Rosetti pauintings) for a while heh heh! guess I was 100 years too late even to be in with a chance! this is so pre-Raphaelite in flavour, beautifuly detailed and so elegant!

Wow, Nell, this is great! IMO your best picture? You could make some money painting such portraits in watercolour and selling them to the rich people who listening Bach during the meals and having piano in the living room - If I have one (piano that is) I'll buy one to hang it over it (the thing is, I can't play one, and I'll not hang the picture over someones nerves I can play on :>)
The mood is very romantic. Great work.

This is beautiful Nell, You'll have to pu tit up on deviantart so I can favorite it! I love old photos. Apparently Denise Orme was a big singer/actress/musician during the turn of the century. Just thought you might want some more info on your pretty lady if you didn't already know.

Art at its best.
