Artwork Description

I was going for an old glum, blue-gray battlefield with a lonely expanse in the far background. I think I tried to squeeze too much in, though, as the picture turned into a compositional...problem. I'm not sure the hedgrows add anything but I'm relatively happy with the way the mountainous horizon came out at least.
Painted in Photoshop.

I like the hedgerows. They add a feel of realism, as that's something that certainly you might find randomly in a field.

Brilliant! Especailly love the mountains in the backgroud. The whole thing's got great depth!

A great sense of emotion in it. Quite strange how similar our styles are (except you're a hell of a lot better than me!)

Stunning.

One of the best fantasy-type paintings I've ever seen. Painting is all about conveying atmosphere and a feeling of being there (IMO) and this image does it exceptionally well. Genuinely amazing.

More, give us more! Smile
I can imagine and feel emotion of the scene...

So many things to love about this piece. The gnarled limbs of the fallen tree he'd sitting on, the mountains, the wonderful clothing, the sword in the forground embedded in the snowdrops that give hope that spring will again come... But mostly the expression - numb and disbelieving. Terrific job.

The mood is so wonderful. Chilling but calm. I really like the clothing of the figure and the gentleness of the hills.

I can just feel the chill in the air, and the emotion of the scene. Wonderful, I love it!

Wow, I absolutely love it. I know the feeling of trying to put too much into a picture and I usualyl make it too busy, but you did it so well that it's just plain beautiful, everythign works perfectly together. I especially love the mountains. Good work!

leave it just as it is, it is perfect. And the trees in the background give that touch of realism that makes it into something gut-twisting

Art at its best.
