Artwork Description

Her hair is in dreadlocks, her tail is scarred
That is no suit
See how she glares from the corner of her eye
You can see she hates you
she wants to pull you down where it's cold...
paraphrased excerpt from "Pantoum for Weird Tales" by Christopher Buehlman

This mermaid is perfect! I love it! I am impressed the size is so small - I would love a print of this, actually.

I love this drawing, as well as the introduction to it. You can completely see the utter hate in her eyes, and the almost disdained "why are you bothering me and my baubbles"....This is great...great shading and great idea. Finally, another person who does not draw cutesy mermaids.

this is very good! its very weird how they say that Mermaids are cold hearted and can never love, well the facial expression on this one is very cold,I love the touch of reality to it! Awesome!

Actually its not the scan that's small, it's the drawing. It was done in a 4x6 inch sketchpad so the mermaid herself is only 3 inches long. It shows up almost actual size on my monitor...

The details are great! Too bad the scan is rather small to appreciate all the work you've put into this deadly beauty. Her fishy tail with that fin down the back is great, and so is the added touch of realism with the webbing between her fingers. More mermaids!!!

Her expresion is very... um... expressive Wink And I like the gloomy dark atmosphere of the picture.

Art at its best.
