Artwork Description

Just finished this, and would love some feedback from the more established artists on Epilogue...rip it to shreds! I vacillated on the approach (for example, I was thinking of doing the deeper shadows ont the figure in deep blues or violets, but didn't know if I could pull it off).
This is for a trilogy of gothic vampire romance novels, a field I would really love to get into (books, that is).

Thanks patrick, that was really good constructive criticism...I fixed two things, the eye and some shadows on the face, blurred the clouds a bit, but not a ton...something I should have paid more attention to, I think. I used local color on the face and the dress, which was supposed to be close to white, but I suppose if I were really thinking, I would have thrown some warm color here and there on the dress...still can, I guess!

Hey, Ken! As usual your technique and lighting are spectacular. Great stuff. The composition seems to work well, too. -- Since you asked for a critique, I'll have to find something... Well, the clouds are a bit solid to my eye - not as puffy or whispy as they should be (especially for such a moody piece). The other thing that strikes me is that you've gone for a very warm shadow on the skin, but not carried that through on the clothing, (very cool shadows) which causes the figure to look less unified. I think your idea of more violet might work - maybe a wash over all the figure's shadows would bring it together? -- Well, I'm not sure that was "ripped to shreds", but hopefully helpful! Wink

Art at its best.
