Artwork Description

These are actually two separate images of a popular marvel comics character, done at different times. The first one was for the San Diego comicon program book and the one on the right was done as a commission by the person who bought the first one. The medium is watercolor, but applied on gel medium (an elmer's glue like liquid that dries clear and when you paint on it, the brushstrokes of the gel medium show up as an interesting texture). Did I explain that confusingly enough?

Hey, coming from you, Cos, I consider that great praise! I am a huuuuuge fan of Bill's in general..the guy is way up there with people like McKean as the most versatile and skilled artists that have passed thru comics.

Love these Ken, I'm also a big fan of Bill Sienkiewicz's work on Elektra, I think you've captured the character beautifully in these!

Hey, thanks for all the comments! I don't know if I would go so far to say my version is better than Frank's, tho! The best version is Bill Sinciewicz's, in my opinion..that guy is a master craftsman!

I've never read marvel comics, but for me these 2 are somewhat master pieces, that texture is superb! and thanx for sharing about how that texture was created. I think it's a good inspiration for artists.

Ha! Two for the price of one, Ken! I remember the Elektra character, and I think your version knocks spots of the Frank Miller one, and I don't say that to slag off Frank, cause he is my all time favourite comic hero! excellent stuff my friend!
