The Egyptian goddess Maat is the Justice card in my soon to be released Animals Divine Tarot.
I think she needs a chest. Not trying to be crude, just a suggestion. The Egyptians always displayed chests with pride.
Suprisingly it is a very good representation of Maat. I very rarely see that. Very good.
I appreciate that Rita.
My main mission is not to create beautiful portraits when creating tarot art. Tarot cards serve as projection holders for the psyche that will hopefully initiate a psychological response. Of course, I hope that the images can be appreciated on many levels, but I completely understand that not everyone is going to like my work; that's why there are so many different renditions of the tarot out there. I have been creating cards for many, many years as a means of addressing my personal interest in symbolism and psychology, so I am just doing my thing. Whether this artform is growing in popularity (and may be perceived as a faddish pursuit) or not does not really interest me. I'm just following my personal creative journey.
Seems like these days everyones doing a Tarot deck, and that's fine. Everyone needs some sort of inspiration, it just seems quite overdone. Nice palette in this but again it loses it's magical appeal to me from the character itself. Not all artwork needs to be beautiful but when you paint character portraits such as these they "should" catch the eye and most of your work does not do this for me. Sorry.
