Artwork Description

But as the host of Fingolfin marched into Mithrim the Sun rose flaming in the West, and Fingolfin unfurled his blue and silver banners, and blew his horns, and flowers sprang beneath his marching feet, and the ages of the stars were ended."

I saw this pic and I fell in LOVE with it!!!

goldseven's picture

Lol! No I didn't - but good grief, now that you say it, I finally know what this pic has always reminded me of! Mystery solved! Wink

Great work. Different hopes and expectations of all the main protagonists. Fingolfin looking towards a meeting with Feanor. Finrod looking blankly inquisituve. Galadriel actually happy. Fingon unfurling the banner and Turgon pondering Tirion upon Tuna. Just wondering, did you make Fingolfin deliberately look like Daniel Day Lewis in the last of the Mohicans? and if so, why?

goldseven's picture

Couldn't fit her in, yes Wink

I love the picture!

Great water-coloured!
How did you do that???

Guest's picture

Wonderful picture,. But somehow I miss Aredhel on it.

Guest's picture

Arfy? Fee? Fingy? no, you aren't mad!
Don't worry about this, i call "Charlie" to Aragorn XD.
I love the expresion of Fingolfin,he looks serious or anger (Feanor is guilty,i know) and who's the blonde male near Galadriel? Finarfin? her brother Finrod? all i know about this misterious man ,is that he's very handsome...

I think that pic is so great because of Fingolfin ,in the front, don't have any signs of if he is tried. But still have the anger in his face... and the hand on the rock as he have come to his goal. Now a new path have come. So great! Can't even find words for it. so Good!

Man does Fingolfin look pissed off big time. it's amazing, i love his expression so much.

Guest's picture

Fingolfin looks fantastic, like a king!

Guest's picture

Your work is among the best I've seen! And, this is the picture I have been searching for! Do you mind if I use this as my avatar on a tolkien forum?

Wonderful, wonderful work. Fingolfin is the mightiest of the Noldoli and he certainly looks the part. Very noble and handsome. Well done!!!

goldseven's picture

Thanks! Few things make me happier than people looking at my works and "reading" the things from them I put into them. Kudos!

This is just...wow. Where to start? Fingolfin's hair, his face. He *does* look a bit irritated. Smile Your Finrod is very striking -he looks very much as though he's just come through great hardship to sunlight and warmth again, which, of course, is exactly what he's done. Their postures and expressions are wonderfully chosen -Fingolfin, not in the vest of moods, Fingon, looking back, towards his home or towards the people following or his own memories, who knows? Turgon, looking aggreived, and Finrod and Galadriel, both so full of hope and ambtion and plans for these new lands. The mountains in the background, and all the host pouring out of them...well, I think you can tell I liked it. Smile -Claire

GREAT !!!! Really really really great , and pretty ! Fingolfin is fantastic on this painting ! He represents the glory of the Noldor, and the Hope , the Courage...magnific ! The French.

goldseven's picture

woops. Smile

Guest's picture

I meant the one to his right and just behind him; the one you said was Fingon. But you're welcome. Wink

goldseven's picture

Thanks! Smile - No, Aredhel would have black hair. The characters are: some banner-bearer, Fingolfin, Fingon, looking back; Turgon, grieving for his dead wife; Finrod, and Galadriel.

Guest's picture

Is that Elf on the far left one of Fingolfin's sons? And the one to his right is Aredhel? Beautifully done...now I'll imagine your Fingolfin when I read it. Wink

goldseven's picture

Tee hee... the use of that word always gets a grin from me; in British English, "pissed" means "drunk" XD

Guest's picture

I pressed return too soon, it seems...oopsies. But this is VERY beautiful...I just love the expression on Fingolfin's face. Keep going!!!!

Guest's picture

Oh,my does Fingolfin looked pissed. Beautifully done.

Guest's picture

heh yes Fingy. Thats what I call Fingolfin. He's Fingy, Finarfin is Arfy and Fëanor is Fee lol. (And yes I'm quite mad)

goldseven's picture

Fingy...?

Yes, that Finrod, and his sister Galadriel.

Guest's picture

I have to ask........the blonde male just to the right of old Fingy.....is it Finrod?

Guest's picture

Morgoth, beware !
Fingolfin is wonderful, and Finrod is nice too, although he looks perhaps a little too "shy". All in all, great work.

Art at its best.
