i think this work of art is really
admireable and i think this is more than a legend."La Llorona"

Wow, I'm Cuban American and growing up, within the family, my nickname was La Llorona because I would cry all the time. Aside from my dip to the past, lovely. Don't ask me why, but I love the fence. Everything about it is perfect. The rest of the pic is gorgeously done as well, I just wanted to pic one thing. I like the fact I can see the wood grain without it looking like some downloaded wood texture.

Hauntingly fantastic!

Scott, thank you so much. I feel like I'm still defining a style and was so unsure of these pieces when I finished them. I look at areas in them now and am kicking myself I didnt spend another hour or so in Painter.
I am glad it creeped you out, it means I accomplished what I wanted to do Smile

Hello Waldo. Eu estou em estados unidos orientais. A legenda do la

Even the thumbnail of this creeped me out. Very well painted Cathy, I really like your painting style. The screaming trees are a nice touch to the background as well. A fine job!

Fantastic. A little creepy too. I recently watched the movie "The Ring" for the 1st time, so now images of ghost women give me the heebe-jeebes.

cathy's picture

I've painted two different versions on how she looked- the horse faced La Llorona and this one that you see here. I haven't uploaded the horse faced one yet but plan on it soon.

¿Dónde usted está viviendo? Las historias que leí ocurrieron en el
área de Suramérica. Es una leyenda espantosa y triste. Excuse por
favor mi español pobre.

cathy's picture

When doing this piece I thought the trees could represent the children she had drowned.

Cathy, ¿ Tú conoces mi pais? .Porque en el sur de mi tierra existe esta leyenda.

gandalf-85's picture

legends over here say she was pretty scary looking, but anyways , great picture =)

Hmmn. I see that the trees have agonized faces. Are these also spirits who have killed themselves?

Art at its best.
