Artwork Description

I made this picture after a creative-crisis. It shows the character Erik from "the Phantom of the Opera", who I use for an own comic-project, in a similar case of crisis.

The Pegasus is a symbol for art and his flight to the skies. But my Pegasus is killed by doubt and the greed for recognition.

Erik is a composer, who lives under the parisian operahouse. His disformed face hidden by a mask. He composes music, which is different from the music of his time. He has the problem, that everyone is afraid of him and noone understands his music.

So Erik has to fight against a similar kind of crisis.

Wonderful picture - I love the mythos of the phantom of the opera and I know those crisis very well by myself. :/

hi there. I think I've seen your work on that phantom of the opera art gallery - I post art there myself. Anyway, I really like the symbolic quality of this piece and you have a great stylized technique for your figures. Nicely done.

LOVE it. I like to see art that has a deeper meaning to it.

Art at its best.
