Artwork Description

This is another watercolour that became a gouache painting once I decided that I wanted to make a few corrections and adjusments. Here too I started with a sepia under drawing and advanced from there with tansparent and opaque colour.
The landscape in the background is nearly all coloured pencil. More later Smile

Thanks again. I love to paint witches. they are my favourite subject. It's also fun to try and put them in the right environment. Larry

Man...I can't tell you how much I love all your witch paintings, and the landscapes and their clothes. Wonderful.

Iris - I am almost always trying to create a feeling of the antique in my pictures, which is why I like the "old master" palette that you mentioned. I think it helps to make a more believeable environment for faery tale pictures. Thanks. Wenche - I'm glad you like this one. It took a lot of correcting to get it finished but now it makes me happy too.

Excellent picture. I like the detailing very much. The background has a feel to it that you see in old dutch landscape paintings. A feel of the old masters, perhaps this is also because of your use of colors but I think your technique is very good in this one. The witch is fantastic. Her cape is very good, you can almost feel the texture, great job.

Art at its best.
