Artwork Description

Another Piece from 'Endangered Species'. This one is my take on a werewolf. I wanted to capture a creature's communion with nature in a contemporary setting. I find there's an odd predatory yet mournful feel to it. He touches the ground, but can he feel the earth beating beneath the cement? This warrior of Gaia laments for it's heart.
Many thanks to Kim Maciej who to took the reference photos and worked with me on the rest of Endangered Species and Patrick, my model (sometimes I'm conveinced that he really is lycanthrope masquerading as my friend Smile.
Mixed Media: watercolours, graphite, ink, pencil crayons and gouache.

This definitely reminds me of my character in the story I'm writing. He's hating himself for what he has become: a killer. And yet, there's a part of him that almost enjoys being what he is. Wonderful. I love it!

I love his face. Lots of emotion. Really neat project you have here. Great work.

Art at its best.
