the only thing is that the gates of Valhalla are big enough for 800 soldiers to stand side by side. i've been doing a lot of research. but the picture is freakin' awsome.

This is truly fabulous. I am quite amazed and stunned by the amount of detail put into it, the shading, the fading, and the smaller thin lines. It's truly fabulous. Congratulations and good luck later on. Wink

Great work, Your a man of my own heart

The constructivist creates a strict, architectonic work, that should serve the structural art.

The surrealist on the other hand serve's only the fantasy, in the same way as the music. He forms an imaginative world about real form elements, that escape from the frame of the dream.

hehe thats sounds cool, and thank you for the fine words. Yeah that movie is great...not maybe the script..but i loved the rest of it, the musicscore by Jerry Goldsmith was one of the ingridience while making this painting....its like wiping your arse with silk..muhahaaa =D thankx again

Guest's picture

hey!!!! i really love that painting. my sister sent this to me b/c we've both seen the 13th warrior. and now when i watch that movie the little saying about the halls of valhalla is even more real b/c i've seen your painting!!! its amazing.

thankx, yeah I always been facinated by artist who can deliver that sort of feeling, so this is my first test to do something like it, im glad you liked it Jeff, like your style also....respect! =)

very strong. the textures and tonality work very well together, and combined with the sense of enormous scale evoke a powerfully mystic mood. very much like icy valhalla. kudos.

whaw, I love that atmosphere...

well..I must admit this one took alot of time doing, actually the "worktime" took me lets say...60 hours. and then I just let it be, and watch it from time to time to get some ideas about the lightning and stuff to make the painting get the right balance. And thank you Jimmy for your words, most kind of you // Robert

hehe thank you once again Marley! its an honor to be compared with J Engel. Well the texture was a fun thing to do, cause I dont really "think" when im doin it...the hand is just goes by itself..no control at all...and most of the times the result looks like some crazyass hedgehog on crack had a blast and just played around..but sometimes...it turns out good in the end =P (sorry for my writing...need breakfast I think) And thank you again, you should have seen my face when I noticed that his was a "editors pick", I smiled for a hole week just for that =)

elneskog's picture
