Artwork Description

The great Merlin, shapeshifter and spellcaster conjures his Wolf-self with the arts he has learned from the ancient druids.

The model is the great artist and Epilogue member James McPartlin.

The photo of the wolf is used with friendly permission from the photographer Oliver Matla (

Painted with NuPastels and Pastel-Pencils on velour paper

I really love the colors in the wolf.. very realistic, and not to mention pretty... also, great job on the texture of the fur, especially on the top of the head... it looks really soft and fuzzy and makes me want to reach out and pet him!

They do have resemblance in a way, don't they? I adore the feathery quality of Merlin's hair. It looks like you could almost touch it.

Great piece. Your traditional technique is awesome, I think you should try digital someday to see what happens. I love the expressions and the wolfie. Keep it up.

Ja Rita, das hab ich wirklich so gemacht und viele einzelne Haare wieder übermalt, damit es Tiefe bekommt. Aber es hat solchen Spaß gemacht! Auf die Zeit hab ich nicht geachtet - sonst hätte ich wohl aufgegeben Wink DANKE für deine lieben Worte!

Ich mag Wölfe, besonders wenn sie so detailiert wie hier ausgearbeitet sind, jedes Fellhaar scheint hier einzeln gemalt worden zu sein und das verdient wirklich Hochachtung. Wie lange bist du denn an dem Wolf gesessen? Der schaut nach sehr sehr viel Harter arbeit aus Smile
