I've had a love of Ancient Rome every since I was a boy, this piece was inspired by the great culture.
You ever consider using real oil paint?
I've experimented with painter but prefer photoshop to produce oil like finishes. This one was done using only photoshop.
And to answer the sexuality query, no hes not gay - the man I used to model for the piece is one of the owners of White Wolf Publishing, Steve.
Thanks for the comments and questions
Great texture! Seriously yum . The character is beautifully rendered and his costume is so intricate! He must be cold though . Wonderful work.
no he's not gay anyway the bg looks like an oil painting. did yu do on painter?
he has on nail polish. is he gay?
I adore the mixture of fantasy setting, pose and barbarian look of the character (long, red hair) and the wonderfull roman details! The gladius and cingulum are perfect! And I Iove how the red/ orange of the trousers resembles the original tunic.
man, you have an incredible style...great layout as well...sorta reminds me of John Berkey's finishing technique, except you do it digitally...wow, great job...is this photoshop? I am envious.
