Artwork Description

Well, not much to say about this piece, just another one of those cliché pieces, hot woman with heavy armor, swords and stuff, and know what, I just love doing pictures like that Wink.

Holger is right. It 'radiates mood'. I instantly felt empowered. I'll be attending a renaissance wedding soon (as a sultry wench) & find myself wishing it would be a fantasy wedding! I appreciate your talent as an artist & "Thank you for sharing it with the world." But with this one, it's not so much the visual. My appreciation lies more in the feeling that it's given me & will take with me - as I've decided I feel too good to stay online! Wink "Thank you!"

Ciao! LunarMoose

Hey, thanks Patrick! Time that you upload some new stuff Wink. Always great to see you in my gallery, well you see I'm still playing around and experiment with different techniques Smile

Very good one, Uwe! I think I like everything about it. The costume is especially well-designed, with a lot of useful detail (not too much, but enough to make it entertaining). Great work.

Hi Walt, it is really great to see you more often around here again, you know you have been one of the first of my favorite artists that I discovered here! So, great to hear you somehow like what you see in my gallery now, your opinion means a lot to me . Thank you, it is very encouraging to me to hear such nice words from you Smile.

Damn nice work, Uwe! Sincerely, you are really doing some great stuff here with this piece. I love how you just do what you love. Big things happen when a person's got the guts to stick with that!

Michael , I feel completely flattered about your very nice comment. Thanks so much!

You know it is only cliche if it is done poorly...lets just say this isn't even on the same continent as cliche. Another fine work.

Hi Nathan, thanks for commenting, glad the background work for you Smile

Haha, so you were the anonymous guest, I thought it was another artist who forgot to log in. Hey and you didn’t annoy me, it is a very helpful comment, now I even can see what you meant about the pose, and damn you are really right, it somehow looks strange, I can’t tell why, but it really doesn’t look really right. So good to have fresh eyes looking at a piece, next time you should look at my work before I finish it, haha. Again thanks so much for this really helpful expert comment, and keep up your fabulous work as well. Thanks my friend!

Another fine work... Love the background...

Ups, sorry, Uwe, I didn't mean to make an anonymous comment, the guy annoying you with the swords and pose from 2006-02-24 was me. Still not sure about the pose, the feet seem a bit floating maybe, but anything I point out I feel not 100% correct are still 98% perfect and take little away from the success of the picture, I hope you know that!

Thanks Daniela, really glad you like it, was much fun to do this piece Smile

Hi Matt, my friend, you know how much I appreciate your nice and modest words, thank you so much. Hey and why shouldn’t we say nice things to each other, we both love to do the same thing – fantasy-art – at the end we are a big family and the internet gave us the chance to talk to each other, what a wonderful thing! You know working as an artist can be a little like asylum sometimes, you work alone and don’t have much people to communicate with, now through places like Epilogue we have a chance to share our thoughts and interests with other people who like the same things, it is just fantastic, whish I would have known this much earlier.

But now to this money thing, hey it isn’t as bad at all, you know I am not only an illustrator, I’m a graphic designer as well, and that’s currently the part of my business where I make the big part of my income. And that’s not as bad at all, I love to do graphic design as well, sure it is not as interesting as doing fantasy art, but at least I still can do something art related and creative. But not the right place to talk about such things here, drop me a mail and we can share our experiences about professionally doing fantasy art Wink.

Hi Uwe, sorry I'm so late with this comment, It's getting very hard for me to express how much I love your art work. I know we both say very nice things about each other's art all the time but your work is just superb and I will always admire how a man of such talent can be so modest, and such a nice guy.

I know how hard it is to make any money is an artist, God knows I struggle myself. But there is something wrong with this world when a person capable of such beautiful and fantastic work cannot make enough money to live comfortably just doing what he does best.

j-art's picture

Thanks so much Guest. Damn you are right the swords are completely off, I painted them in later and didn’t take care about the flow of her body, should really take more attention about the little things next time. I can life with the pose think that’s not really a problem, but the swords are definitely off. Could you borrow me your eyes next time ??? Thanks so much for pointing that out, much appreciated. Glad you like it even with the little flaws Smile

j-art's picture

Malcolm, such a compliment coming from you means more to me than all money can buy. Oh and as we’re talking about money, yes there IS a thing that I cant do, I can’t, no matter how hard I try, make enough money with my art to do as much art as I want to Wink, haha, ah, you know same old thing everywhere Smile). But seriously, your nice words really make me feel like in heaven. Thank you so much!

j-art's picture

Marley, would you marry me Smile. Thanks man your words make me feel really good!

j-art's picture

Yeah, girly and swords, what would the fantasy world be without them? If I only had more time (umm or money, bwahaha) I would do hundreds of pieces like that, but oh well, you know….

j-art's picture

Awe, Kay your comments are too kind – thank you Smile

j-art's picture

Haha Heiko, yes I smoke (sadly), but you are so damn right it really is like having a cigarette doing a piece like that Wink. To be honest I don’t care to much about this cliché thing, I love looking at pieces like that so why shouldn’t I do pieces like that Smile.

j-art's picture

Thanks for your comment Stephen, much appreciated. Glad you think the light works in this piece, but to be honest I didn’t take to much care about lightning in this one, it is more a soft ambient light in this one not a dramatic light as in some of my other pieces.

j-art's picture

Thanks Simon, actually this “style is more drawing than painting as I just go wild with small sized watercolor brushes in Painter and than add some color washes here and there and it’s done. I like it very much to work this way. And you know I want to do more free work this year, so I’m free to try what ever I want Smile

Great work, Uwe. I esspecially like the moody background. I have a slight problem with her pose though, it seems tilted and the swords seem to be too high up and not quite follow the rotation of her upper body.

Even despite these perceived flaws the piece simply radiates mood and personality despite the stereotypic theme. Love it.

Another masterpiece, Uwe. Character, depth, lighting, atmosphere - is there anything you can't do brilliantly?

Art at its best.
