Artwork Description

A friend of mine created a world in which there were American Indian-like tribes of horsemen who live on a vast plains and trade with, and are heavily influenced by, the nearby elves who live in the woods and mountains at the edges. I was intrigued by that idea.

Is it possible to get a copy of your friend's story?

In a weird way, I've been working around horses for a number of years now. I suspect some of it is seeping through the cracks.

That is one of the most beautiful horses I have ever seen, painted or otherwise! I love your delicate touch with the light on the horse and the translucent effect of its fur and its tail. Very impressive.

WOW. That thin strip of light around the horse is amazing- this is breathtaking. You're VERY talented.

That horse is gorgeous!

The colours are yummy! I particularily like the translucent quality of the horse, it really adds to the 'mysticism' of the piece... The character reminds me of martial artist/actor Mark Dacascos who was a mohawk indian in a brilliant French movie called, 'The Brotherhood of the Wolf'... see it if you get the chance!

Thanks! And I should have followed your advice about getting over here a LONG time ago.

That would be true if his leg was going straight down, but it isn't. He's bending it. You would see it more easily if I hadn't drawn him wearing the tunic. My bad. Smile

Great pic..but..his leg looks a little ..short. Good Job!

I'm really glad you like it. Smile

Thank you, Ken. Having taken a look through other Editor's Choices, that's high praise, but I'm not going to fret over it. There's a lot of truly gorgous art on this site (yours, for instance!) and an Editor's Choice, by it's very nature, has to be a truly subjective thing.

jlwilliamson's picture

I'm not surprised you see a resemblance at all, actually, since I had Mark Dacascos on the brain when I painted it. (Watched Brotherhood of the Wolf too many times, I suppose.) I'm glad you like it.

wow, you know I am surprised this is not an editor's choice, looks like the type of stuff they would eat up!

Do I see a bit of a resemblence to Mark Dacascos? Either way it's a beautiful picture. I love the horse.. it all seems so real. Great job!
