Done in Painter 8, with Wacom tablet.
Thanks, Ken. That's very nice of you. I do love the pastel tools in Painter, and did most of this piece using them, so there you go.
Ha...it's funny...as the picture was showing itself to me, top to bottom...when I saw her face I was thinking...her hands have got to be defiantly on her waist and there you go....
Great attitude piece and as I said on the other comment, it looks like a Gary Kelley pastel to some degree, and that is high praise.
Thank you, Rowan! The color palette came out of a concerted effort to limit myself. I was inspired by Socar Myles's work. It's something I intend to play with more often, needless to say.
Thank you, Tony. That's very kind.
I, too am awed by the light quality and the convincing texturing of this image.
The mood an lighting of this picture are engrossing. The simple bushstroke mist in the background gives the image a real feel of depth (the red eyes are a great touch too BTW). This is just fantastic, you've obviously got a great handle on colour palette and the convincing rendering of numerous surface tyes (her skin, her hair, her dress, etc. etc.) Keep up the brilliant work - I really look forward to seeing more.
Love the SUGGESTION of a big, nasty monster in the shadows behind her.
Thank you, Terry. I had a lot of fun with the fabric of her dress.
Very nice. Especially like the coloring of her.
The little frogs were fun too. I had no idea that poison dart frogs came in so many colors -- bright blue's my favorite!
I realy love this!she is beautiful and the detail is amazing, all the way down to the little frogs. Very nice!
Jennifer, this is gorgeous. Her dress is just outstanding - the light and shadow there. LOVE IT.
Thanks, Jennifer! She was a whole lot of fun, which is probably why she came together so quickly. I had fun with all the little details too. Many of them aren't visible on the web image, of course (the pendant on her necklace, for instance, is the Mayan heiroglyph for jaguar) but I know they're there.
Wow, great details Looks like many hours of hard work went into this Wonderful
Thank you! She came together quite unexpectedly.
Beautiful, great color, lighting and rendering. Great work Jennifer.
