Artwork Description

coloring practice with colored pencils and a little bit of acrylic paint to bring out highlights. I think i have improved greatly in the past years, especially if you compare to my older artwork...

i am now 16 and when i was a kid, i was always fascianted with dolphins, whales, and underwater creatures. I collected alot of things of that type too. as i got older i 'fell out' of the underwater thing, but i love to swim and the ocean still captures my heart. i want to be a marine biologist later on in my life. when i saw this picture i was like man this is beautiful. i agree with the other commenters, this is cool and yes, i too love the contrast you used to combine the innocent with the guilty. the colors just strike my mind as amazing and soft when needed and drastic where needed. it shows how the mermaid is a beautiful creature and shows great detail. i still believe in my heart to this day that mermaids/mermen exist, but havent been found. I want to be the one to find them.

I love the contrast between the soft and delicate aspect of the mermaid, and the gory treatment of the victim. A very original rendition of a classical subject.

Art at its best.
