Artwork Description

This is one of the projects for my advanced painting class. It is acrylics with metallic spray paints, various papers, and acrylic eyes.

The idea is based on things not being what they seem-- some people see just a decorative pattern. Other people see faces.

Patterns are things of order, and patterns like the metallic copper one here, which is modeled after the Ronwe wallpaper, are considered a luxury sort of item. Clean lines, even spacing. Elegant to the eye. Time consuming to create.

Monsters are chaotic creatures, often bringing to mind carnage and destruction, decay and rot. It can take very little time to destroy things (especially where Godzilla is concerned).

This series of 'Monster Wallpapers', if you will, are a mesh of those opposing ideas. I hope it brings you a sense of mysterious mischief, decadence, and maybe a little uneasiness.

I love your visual rendition of Forneus. As a daemon who can turn your friends into foes your painting highlights how a simple change in perspective, your gaze, can change an enemy to a friend, or so that's how i feel when i see your work.
