what does it say on her chest?
A geisha always stops the white just before her hairline to allow a peek at her skin. Also... the hand would be painted white (yes yes I know the shadow) but it would be panited white with regular skintone on the wrist. You have the very very very basics correct, the hair wrong (they never have hair hanging down) and a geisha never EVER shows her body or even has a tatto. As good as it is... I'm very dissappointed with the representaion of a Geisha.
This is a very very very well done image though.
Viviane, I adore Geisha and I have to say that this is stunning. I would love to have this hanging on my wall in my home and if you could please let me know if a copy is available. I love how you took the traditional Geisha and made her breathtaking. I would love to hear from you and talk about maybe a custom piece. Please email me at email@example.com. Once again, stunning.
As an answer to the guest that asked if Geisha were prostitutes in Japan, no they are not. They are artists. A Geisha is expected to be proficient in ALL of the arts, singing, dancing, music, conversation, femininity, etc. They are escorts to businessmen and do not necessarily have sex with them. A true Geisha does not need to sell her body to be desired by men.
I like this picture. The artisit brought the Geisha to the present day. I find the Geisha'a style tobe old and boring, if the Geisha's dressed like this more, today's men would desire them, and maybe that's what the Geisha should think of doing. On a different topic, Geisha's are high class prostitutes in Japan right?
This pic is inaqurate. Geishas only paint their face and neck leaving triangular shapes on the back of their neck. so why did you paint her boobs and everything but her hand? And the eyes are too drastic.
I love the fan and the way she is holding it. You did a great job! I wish I could draw (and use water color) like you!!
this is beautiful...your detailing is..I envy you, to say the least. ^.^ This is so very beautiful, and watercolours? It much have taken a long while, but with this kind of product, much worth the effort I'm sure. This is very beautiful and you deserve all the recognition you get for painting it. As for those who think it is digital, watercolour came first, and just because something is amazing and beautiful and flawless, doesn't mean it was done on a computer. Thank you for sharing this piece with me.
the grawing looks awesome
Boah! *staun* o.o das Bild hier? ^-^ ...hab es ja als Poster in meinem Zimmer hängen...! *smile* bin ein riesen Fan von dir! XD
cu Ayumi Semjasa
It is a wonderful piece of work. Do me a favor, don't quit on your artistic dream, okay?
Its really beautiful.
This is amazing! I love the originality, and the expression on the geisha's face. Beautiful!
I've read that when Geisha/Geiko preform on stage they powder their hands too to keep up the illusion better....but I love this pic as is
You know what?! I bought this magazine with your wonderful image a few month ago , only because of this cover. Your art is awesome and I wish I had this talent!
*g* She is female indeed. Have a look at her breasts. No silicon in it! ^_-
You can buy a big poster at mangaszene.com - it's really cheap!
The real reason of her dark hand is because her face and the upper part of her body wears white make-up. In reality, geishas wear this white make-up only up to décolletè. But I found it more aesthetic if the breast are white. too.
Thanks for your kind and comfirming words!^___^
Wow! O___O *Bows down before you* Oh great Watercolor/Trias Markers master! *o* She is absolutely beautiful!.. it is a she right? cuz a lot of artist these days just draw a fine looking woman but then turns out to be a man... such weird artist i tell you! who do such a thing??? ((me))... ^^; ... Well anywho.. Her clothing looks like it was Matte Painted on photoshop or something.. ((((Take this as a BIG compliment))) you have certainly tricked my eye there..... you've done your job... I would really would want to buy this! if i had money.. <<; eh er yeah.. till then! ^_____^ you have gain yourself a fan ^3^...
LATER DAYZ! X3
Well if her body is in the sunshine and her hand is in the shadow. How come the dress near her hand still is in the same colous as the rest of the dress shouldn't it be like her hand, slightly darker???? That is the point!
And Viviane your work is great coz I never seen a pix of a geisha like this it's so beautiful like I said. I can't take my eyes out of it. Greets
Whoever said you didn't do this is crazy. Of course you did it. I even went to the website and checked it out. And the hand is in a shadow, the rest of her body is in the sunshine. Therefore, making the hand slightly darker. DUH! This is beautiful work Viviane, and I am happy that you are one of the many talented artists on this site
Your work is very very good. It's so beautiful that I can't take my eyes off it. But then there are one thing that I wander. Her hand (colour of the skin) did not match with her body colour! Why don't you let it be the same colour as the rest of her body?
Why, of course did she do this, this beautiful pic was even used as a magazine cover. Viviane, I didn't tell you yet (on Axx) but I think it is the most beautiful cover they ever used ^___-. I really adore this ... Lucky to have a big version at home ^___-.
So gorgeous and rich!
Thank you all very much for the compliments!^^
Why do some of you think that I didn't draw this artwork? Who else has drawn it then?
The artwork isn't digital. It's primary painted with watercolor and Tria-marker. Here is a exact description:
