Artwork Description

Firstly to any one who knows Lock Ness I apologise, this was not done from reference so is almost certainly not accurate but i hope it feels right. It was done a little at a time over about a week as a distraction. I sketch in black&white to get an idea of lighting and contrast. I add colour if it's any good, then just refine what i have until it's finished, or i give up!

Hope you like it and as always thanks for looking!

Very beautiful, Matthew. The wonderful, muted realism of the surroundings make Nessie look particularly natural in her surroundings. Smile

Very nice work Matt. I've thought a few times in the past of painting this very same subject myself. I've never been there but from the photos of the Loch that I've seen I'd say you've done a nice job capturing it. The grey overcast scene really adds to the atmosphere of this piece and Nessie looks just like I've always imagined. Great painting Matt. Smile

Matt, I like the water effects - and the sky looks just as silver as I remember it (never been in Scotland - but close Wink
Very magical.

No need to apologise, Matt, this is pretty near the mark visually and certainly mentally as I remember it (heh I'll soon be moving back there) beautifully painted and very convincing, the grey tones and subdued colours are typically Scotland nearing the winter months! WOW! and Nessie is so alive and vital.....as, of course, she is in real life!

Art at its best.
