Artwork Description

I doubt you'll be surprised to know I love the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. I've wanted to do something with really energetic brush strokes and a bit more life to it for some time. I always seemed to get so caught up in realism and detail. I like these things! but I also like movement and feeling which seems to disappear the longer I work on something. Anyway, hope you like this and thanks for stopping by.

Hi Patrick, thank you so much for leaving such a great comment. I'm really pleased you like the loose and tight affect I tried to achieve. Some artists seem to do it effortlessly but this is not the case with me. I have to really hold back and think about what I'm doing and for that reason I think it lacks true spontaneity, I shall keep plugging away as we all do, drawing inspiration from other artists such as yourself. Your DVD is on my Christmas list by the way! Smile

You really brought the awesome on this one! I love the composition, the lighting, the atmosphere, the interplay between loose and tight detail.. heck it's all good here!

Wow! That looks incredibly dynamic. The textures are absolutely amazing - the wood looks as if you could touch it - and smell it too!

Thank you so much Malcolm, I enjoyed doing this, it is definitely not as loose and energised as I'd like. I still need to stop overworking things too much. Thank you again my friend.

Great picture, Matthew. I'm a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean as well. I like the movement, light and colour, in this piece, and the looser style adds to the impressive effect. Keep them coming!

Art at its best.
